Lower Back Pain Causes and Age-Related Degeneration
The causes of low back pain are numerous, and are often related to the age of the patient. In young adults (less than 60 years old), common conditions include sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and isthmic spondylolisthesis. In older patients (greater than 60 years old), common conditions include osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, and degenerative spondylolisthesis.
A depressive disorder is not the same as a passing blue mood. It is not a sign of personal weakness or a condition that can be willed or wished away.
